About Sotdm
Sisters Of The Dancing Moon
Our Founders
Monica Thomas Osbourn
Cathy Sawtelle Thorpe
Barbara Loveridge-Armitage
Back in 2022 Monica Osbourn became inspired by a viral video of dancing witches she had seen online. The video was of the Wolfshager Hexenbrut from Langelsheim, Germany back in 2016 – during a celebration called Walpurhis Night. These witches had gathered and performed a choreographed dance to the song Schuttle Deinen Speck (Shake your bacon in English) by Peter Fox. Once it surfaced online it went viral on social media … a phenomenon was born. You can view their video on YouTube : HERE
Like many other people around the world Monica was inspired to form her own group and perform this Witches Dance within the communities of her surrounding area. She banded together with Barbara and Cathy and the Sisters of the Dancing Moon was born. Based out of Corydon, Indiana and with members living scattered across Southern Indiana and Kentucky, the group performs at various festivals and events trying to bring the magic of The Witches Dance to as many as possible.
SOTDM is a volunteer based, all inclusive performing arts group specializing in The Witches Dance. We receive no income from performing at this time. Any donations received go towards purchasing candy to throw at the parades we take part in. We operate as a collective with individual members taking on various responsibilities to help the group operate smoothly. Most of the events SOTDM perform at are hosted by third parties. We are not accountable for anything at these events except our own group and performance. Our purpose is to entertain, bewitch and enchant you.
